As ongoing regional tensions continue to disrupt airspace across the Middle East, flydubai has extended its flight cancellations until June 16, while reinstating some flights with adjusted routes to avoid affected areas. Similarly, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has confirmed cancellations due to the evolving security situation, prioritizing passenger safety above all.
On June 14, a flydubai spokesperson announced that flights to Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria will remain cancelled for June 15 and 16. However, the airline has resumed certain flights to destinations previously impacted, rerouting them to circumvent restricted airspace.
“We continue to monitor the situation closely and adjust our schedule accordingly. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our passengers. The safety of our passengers and crew remains our top priority,” the spokesperson said.
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has also been forced to cancel several flights scheduled for June 14 that would have flown over restricted zones. The airline emphasized that passenger, crew, and aircraft safety is paramount.
Affected passengers have been notified via email or text message and are being offered flexible options, including free rebooking or full refunds either as Wizz credits or returned to the original payment method.
Passengers with upcoming flights are strongly advised to regularly check their emails and flight status updates. Those who booked through travel agencies or online platforms should contact their agents directly for assistance.
The cancellations come amid escalating military actions, with Iran and Israel exchanging missile strikes and air offensives. On June 13, Israel launched a broad air campaign targeting Iranian commanders, scientists, and nuclear facilities in an effort to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions, heightening tensions and impacting regional air travel.
Travelers are urged to stay informed and plan accordingly as the situation develops.
